This week we thought it would be important to research some useful online resources to implement into our future classrooms.
Take a look at what we believe are the top 3 valuable resources, and why we believe they would be beneficial in our classrooms:
1. CAST UDL Book Builder
This website provides a way for teachers to engage students by creating a classroom book, which can span through various topics that you are incorporating, as well as cross-curricular areas. They even offer a variety of options for alternate languages and characters to make your “book” that much more interesting!
You do have to create an account, but by doing so, you have access to all the additional resources that the CAST website have to offer. We believe that incorporating this particular resources into your classroom, it becomes another way to include another medium through the use technology or visuals to help support the various learners in your classroom.
2. UDL Tech Toolkit – This is a website that provides a technology “tool kit” where there are a variety of links to alternate resources under such topics as; Graphic organizers, literacy tools, study skills tools, research tools, audio books, math tools, etc.
Most of the links listed are free of cost, however, you may require either an iPhone or iPad to download some of the apps. Many of these links can expand cross grade levels and subject areas. We look forward to using many of these links in our upcoming practicum experience!
3. Learning Through Listening – This particular website introduces the idea of “teaching listening” through activities and lesson plans also provides strategies for teachers. This website also gives examples of case studies that as educators we can see how to restructure our lesson plans or activities to accommodate to all learners in our classroom.
It is free to create an account and it gives you access to a variety of lesson plans and the activities that can be implemented into your classroom!
